Videos I've watched lately, part 14

No video could ever make the immense sensation that Geraldine is but I gotta say that there's some pretty dazzling light work going on in the video. It's a great thing too that they haven't overloaded it with sentimental but a respectful sincereness and dignity in the people that are portrayed.

Glasvegas - Geraldine

The video for Kelly Watch The Stars was a complete sell-out mess. The slightly more upbeat and commercial video edit with its handclaps and enforced bassline is by all means allright, even pleasant. But the video does not deliver much. I can easily describe the plot in a few correct sentences if not in one long. Kelly and a girl is playing table tennis. It's an even game until Kelly is hit by the ball in the head and knocked unconscious (!). Air, who also simulates the game in a Pong game comes to her rescue and resurrects her from the dead. Kelly wins the game with her last match point. It's incredibly dull and does not even look good enough and is not enough well-produced to offer eyecandy worth the time. Air is an outstanding electronica band and should be able to show better judgement and taste. Why didn't they stick to the original album version and deliver a real beautiful romantic video?

Here's another worthless piece of shit video. Ace Of Base had the opposite problem that Air had. All That She Wants is a very poppy, catchy and brightly produced 90s song and requires something colourful and sunny despite the darker aura and the sexy vocals and lyrics. A dull sepia blunder of a floozy hootchie chilling about in her candlelit flat is not what you're expecting. Candles, eh? So it's a 90s video! Well that doesn't promise much when comparing to today's music video standards. But this lacks any attempt worht mentioning of matching picture with sound - especially as far as editing goes.
