Remix roundup 2

I know there has been a lot of remixes lately, Sorry 'bout that. I'm working on getting more than a lot of remixes out there for you, but remixes are rare goods to deal with these days. Jokes aside, I just wanted to stress here that I DO NOT NECESSARILY LOVE OR EVEN LIKE EVERYTHING I POST ON THIS BLOG. Some tracks I just don't really care for that much but I post them anyway because:

1. Someone else of you readers with a different taste might like it, or even love it
2. ...because I think it has a relevance for other material I've posted on the blog
3. ...because I think it has a relevance for you readers who might be interested in hearing it
4. ... to help promote an artist I think might be worth a little attention, whether I like the artist or not
5. ...because all these points above here are what makes this blog the world's first and only true public service blog! Geee, isn't that just great?

So just to show you what I mean, I'm going to comment the remixes below.

Hungarian DJ and producer We Plants Are Happy Plants's Coldplay remix is one of those sad times when a young inexperienced DJ creates a tune out of a severely hyped track, only adding a lil beat and changing little, as if hoping to get a glimpse of attention. Sorry, this just aint working for me. Lame beat.

But he definitely has some interesting stuff going on in the Superheroes remix. Simple beat again, but with a nice guitar riff and female choirs in the background is an interesting beginning. But everytime the original vocals kicks in it gets a little noisy actually. A bit overwhelmingly abrasive for the ears I'm afraid, but good try otherwise.

Now for a duo who surely knows how to make slightly chaotic dancefloor smashers that still works for the ears. Basement Jaxx are known for their cacophonies of crazy shouts, alarming horns and insisting bleeps. Strong female vocals are not uncommon in their tracks and I think only they could remix a female's voice to sound as if it was employed by them for their track. It feels very good to have the house gods back on track with their latest remix.

Unless you deeply longed for a latin bmore touch to one very holy song for me and many, this is not for you.

Switch lends Rock'n'Rave its true meaning for Benassi to listen to. But nope, the only thing he manages this time is to make an eight-minute remix sound unfinished.

Another remix that doesn't do the song any good but sure is dope when you need it.

Another remix that apparently didn't enter the contest but could have waken interest in the bleepy d&b fans. Inheriting Aphex's drukqs works and especially reminiscent of the drum sequencing and atmospheres of Fenix Funk 5 from the Analord series. Almost impossible for me to not like in other words.

Radiohead - Nude (Bacalao Remix) (zshare)

I'm sort of into this Wooden remix, though. Danton Eeprom seems to have found vocals in the originals, or what?

Mind-bending synth-bending makes me dizzy. Not really much more than that to it.

The Toxic Avenger - Bad Girls Need Love Too (Les Petits Pilous Remix) (zshare)

MSTRKRFT seems to have caught a fancy for remixing well-known mainstream names (Hamasaki, Minogue, Jesse McCartney, Usher) lately. And they do it fairly, squarily, good and always danceable.

Same here: unless you've been aching for that latino touch to Trick Me and One Minute To Midnight, this is not for you.
